There are so many wadis to explore around the Arabian Peninsula, but this particular one was one we'd been keen to visit for a while. Complete with falaj walks, short swims, a waterfall, and good company, this is an adventure we think back on fondly. If you ever get the chance to hike a wadi, do it. They are all quite unique and mesmerizing in their own ways!

What We Did
Wadi Muaydin: A lovely day hike in and out of the wadi! There was a bit of falaj walking in the beginning, followed by some rock scrambles and short swims (so bring a dry bag). Our turnaround point was a small waterfall inside of a boulder-enclosed cave. You may not like the short swim to the cave if you're claustrophobic (it's above water, just a bit of a squeeze), but we managed just fine and really enjoyed climbing around on the rocks and jumping in. The way in was fairly straightforward but took a different way back to hop around more boulders and pools. This way was less straightforward, so stick with your pals if you end up going this route! We parked near here for our start/finish point. If you're looking for a nice, non-technical adventure in the Nizwa area, this is it!
Misfat al Abriyyin: A quaint village that has been utilizing a falaj system for irrigation for ~2,000 years. We walked the farms/falaj for at least an hour. It was really relaxing to get lost and enjoy nature amongst the palm trees and other wildlife. There are also a handful of cafés around, so was quite refreshing to grab a tea and sit in the sun for a bit. We also enjoyed all of the colorful doors <3
Nizwa Fort: We'd passed the fort several times on our way climbing but had never stopped. So, we finally decided to check it out. Fun 17th Century fort to explore and grab a local bite to eat near the café.
Falaj Daris: This falaj is claimed to be the "oldest,' likely being build around 500 CE. It's fairly large and has since had a family park built on/around it. Only a quick stop is needed here.

Food
Tamrah: REALLY REALLY good!
